We have been wanting to take our bikes up to the Root River Trails in southern Minnesota for several years, now. We first learned of these trails from Jennefer’s sister, who lived near them and introduced us to the Aroma Pie Shop in Whalen. We found a neat little RV spot about midway between Whalen and Lanesboro called the Eagle Cliff Campground, which is also very close to the Root River Trail, a paved bike trail that runs along the Root River. So we rode our bikes up to Lanesboro for some great food and drinks and then back down to Whalen for the literally world famous pies. Highly recommended weekend adventure. We will have to go back and include a tube or kayak trip down the river one of these days.
